YouTube Google Adsense Blipverts

You probably already knew this, being as you're all better pop-educated than me (assuming you are who I think you are), but here's something I didn't know until just a few nano-seconds ago. YouTube and Google are new doing YouTube adsense ads, so you can get some cool video running on your site, and be running ads on that video (supposedly unintrusive, but you'll be the judge on that one), and make some kaching. Here's a sample for your edification pleasure (assuming it works here on my blog, and there are absolutely no guarantees:

Do We Eat Spiders in Our Sleep?

There's a LiveSearch ad floating about that asks the eternal question "Do We Eat Spiders in Our Sleep?"

The answer, of course, is "who the hell cares?" It's an ad, trying to get you to click... don't click!

Furthermore, if you think carefully about it, you will realize that we eat far more disgusting things (including spiders, no doubt, especially if we happen to consume any kind of packaged foods) while we are awake.

So if it bothers you? If you simply have to know? You are probably spending too much time on the internet. Go outside. Play catch. Play ukulele. Do something else, gottblessit.

AdSense Goes Green Garden Tips

Oh no, Jenny's Dog Naming Service has been bumped from the Google Adsense login page in favor of a screenshot with the heading "Green Garden Tips".

I'm relatively certain that the person or persons who owned (or purchased) the web address greengardentips.com is extremely happy with that decision, given that it appears to be strictly an add/feedsite that has nothing at all to do with with the screenshot on the AdSense login page. Good for the site name owner, I suppose, given that they'll likely receive a good spike in traffic simply based on google searches for that name.

But, um, if you are going to set up an ad site like this, well, spend some time making it at least moderately attractive, okay? It doesn't have to match the Google screenshot (and probably shouldn't), but have half an ounce of class, because what I do when I find a a mess like that is immediately close the window. Immediately.

Am I alone? I doubt it.
