Bailey was picked up as a stray and is currently in the Scott County (Indiana) Animal Shelter. I admit, I have never been too fond of Pit Bulls, but this girl is such a lover! She just craves attention and when you stand outside her kennel, she reaches through the space at the door with her front feet and tries to touch you. Bailey’s time is very limited, and unless she is re-claimed or adopted within a few days, she is going to be euthanized. The county shelter just does not have enough room, and sad to say, Pit Bulls are usually the first to lose when more room is needed. PLEASE - if you know of a Pit Bull rescue group that would be willing to take her, please contact me or visit the animal shelter website at:

This is Bailey. The shelter killed her. And I don't mean that they euthanized her. Because that's not what happens. Euthanized implies a sick dog that is ready to die. This is Bailey and she's dead and was a perfectly healthy animal. She's dead for no reason I can think of except that the shelter is crowded and pit bulls are the first to go. Why are pit bulls the first to go? Because too many people can't be responsible enough to be the companion of a happy, loving dog. People. Because of people.

Quite simply, I'm wondering this afternoon who on earth will step forward and be dog's best friend?

Can you tell I'm angry? And cranky?

I admit, I didn't actually know Bailey. But the story is a common one. And today I just don't know what to do about it except vent. So here I am venting. Vent vent vent vent vent and vent.

My apologies. I now return you to your regularly scheduled Friday afternoon nap.
