There are boxes on both sides of Eugene's cage because he doesn't like other cats and the cats next to him don't like other cats. It's just kind of an unlucky room assignment he got there. That doesn't mean that Eugene isn't curious, though. He's nice to people, at least ones who don't smell like other cats (wash your hands before petting him!), so hopefully he'll find a home soon enough.
