Amelia went to the vet on Wednesday and she was such a good girl, despite her abdominal discomfort. During her exam, she was giving kisses to the doctor :) Amelia has a severe infestation of gastrointestinal parasites...hookworms, roundworms, & TONS of whipworms. Poor thing. Any food she did receive at her former "home" was not able to be used by her body as a result. She is confirmed to be about 2 years old, and will be spayed & vaccinated as soon as she is a little stronger. She is heartworm negative - YAYYYYY!!! I am so lucky to have found her, as our vet said she likely could not have survived much longer with such a severe infestation of worms. She still has diarrhea, but it is getting better rather than uncontrollably running down her legs and tail constantly. Her tail has a place where it has been broken at some point and her callouses on her elbows & ankles may get smaller, but they will never totally go away. Despite all of this, Amelia is happy and has such a gentle spirit, and one day very soon she will also be healthy. :)
This special girl is looking for a home! If you can show Amelia a lifetime full of TLC, email me at ECSescilla@aol.com. We would love for this girl to go to a Flickr friend so we can watch her blossom and be loved over the next few years :)
