Feline Vaccine-Associated Sarcoma
Why does it seem that every few seconds there is a new threat to our pets?
Recent reports have indicated that a particularly nasty type of cancer may develop as a result of vaccination in cats, and that cancer is called a "vaccine-associated sarcoma."A tremendous effort is underway to determine why and how these tumors occur and how they can be treated or prevented. Experts in feline medicine, immunology, and cancer treatment have teamed up to form the Vaccine-Associated Feline Sarcoma Task Force.

Any ideas? I'm actually askin' you folks, because it's starting to get under my skin in a big way.
I have a feeling it has something to do with a rather cavalier attitude people in the pet "industry" have taken toward their chosen concern. Too many people jumping into the pet bandwagon that are just barely hanging on, hoping some cash will fall out before their knuckles are too battered to hang on anymore.
But this is just a guess, and I don't want to swipe that brush too wide, in case I get paint on myself... or on someone I love... because I don't even know if it's true... but I have a feeling it is true.
Here's the thing. If you love pets primarily because they bring home the bacon, then you are killing too many pigs in the process. (Um, okay, not just pigs... but you get my meaning, right? Please get my meaning. Me always with the begging and pleading.)
If I were a vet today I would be in a lot of turmoil about how much information I actually had to provide to my clients. If you are in the business of telling people what food is safe and what medicines are safe, and both of those things turn out not to be true in rapid succession of one another, you are likely to be pulling out a lot of your own fur.
Bless those who care in the mean time.
And you. Bless you.
