Wow! I'm Annoyed! Yahoo!

Wow! I'm Annoyed! Yahoo! by Terry Bain. You know, I love the snarky little comments on the flickr site... until they are remarking on something that affect me in what I consider a negative manner. Such as right here. In case you missed it, flickr has just put a 3,000 contact cap on all members. Now, I know how ridiculous it sounds... there's no way anybody could need more than 3,000 contacts. But it's always been my policy, when someone joins my "invitation only" groups, to add them as a contact. After all, it doesn't make any sense to offer my invitation without also making them a contact.

Does it?

So now I have more than 3,000 contacts, and I'm apparently going to have to remove some. But how do I decide? Flickr offers no suggestions, and they don't make it particularly easy to do so.

In fact, in the newsblogthingie they make another snarky little comment.

"In our ongoing efforts to Make Flickr BetterTM, we're introducing two additional limits: the new maximum number of contacts is 3,000 contacts (good luck with that)..."

I'm sorry... good luck with that? Give me a break, okay? If there weren't people with 3,000 contacts, then they wouldn't make the limitation at all, would they?

And frankly, making any sort of limitation here seems arbitrary, and more of a limitation of their system than of my account... and it still seems to me that there would and should be a better way than to simply cut me off at 3,000 contacts.

I bet myspace wouldn't cut me off at 3,000 contact.

Nevermind that I hate myspace with a passion so hot that it burns the my feet just thinking the word.

Also, please note that I've been a "pro" member for almost two years... but it apparently doesn't matter. 3,000, bub. Take it or leave it.

Damn.

Blessings all of you. Even the fine folks at flickr.
