Florida Stillborn Children Can Now Get Birth Certificates » Katherine's Law
Note the beginning of the news story here:
Local & State News - Tampa Bay's 10 - tampabays10.com: Parents who have stillborn children will be able to get a certificate of the child's birth if they want under a bill signed into law today by Governor Jeb Bush.Doesn't it make it seem as if Governor Jeb Bush is responsible for making this happen? Luckily, those with attention spans longer than their little toe can learn more.
The bill was pushed in the Legislature by Daryl and Beth Logullo of Vero Beach. Their child Katherine was stillborn last year. The measure is named “Katherine's Law.”Good for the Logullos. And blessings on them. As the parent of a stillborn child myself, I can tell you there is almost nothing more important that a community can say to that parent than “we recognize your child as real, and your grief as present, and your future without that baby screaming for milk and comfort as difficult, even traumatic.” May all parents of all children find peace in their parenthood.
