Author ID (57931)

It had never really occurred to me before, but I have a Random House/Crown “Author ID.” It's 57931.

Martha Stewart's Baking Handbook
Martha Stewart

It may be that my Author ID is only valid for the website (it obviously won't buy me any credentials at the local Wal-Mart), to sort me out from the thousands of other authors at RandomHouse/Crown/Harmony/Etc, but I'm still a little taken aback by the knowledge. Not taken aback because of what it says, but rather because of what it doesn't say (I think). It's a number, like any other number, and makes me almost indistinguishable (if only for a moment) from Martha Stewart (on a purely “what's so interesting about that there number” sort of momentary fashion). But if you use that number there on the randomhouse website, you get all my books (all 2 of them, that is). Maybe I just need to get over myself.

Dreams from My Father : A Story of Race and Inheritance
Barack Obama

A little Author ID reference, just for fun:
[UPDATE: Just updating some links on this page and noticing that Barack Obama is there on my list from 2006 and my neck is all tingly since yesterday Mr. Obama became president. So that's cool, right? And also? Priscilla Presley. Not president. But still.]
