I would like to go on record as actually liking the new Safeway. The bread. The organic products. The atmosphere. The flower shop.
Oh. And the Starbucks.
We don't have local delivery in our area yet, but I expect when we do I'll likely use it once in awhile, especially when people in my family are sick (or lazy... though of course “lazy” would only describe me, so I don't want any flame emails from people in my family, thank you). But here's the reason for this post.
I've been buying the Safeway Organics like crazy. In part because I want to support larger grocery stores in their support of organics, and would like to see more variety there. But also, we recently invited the Safeway Organic Cranberry Juice Cocktail into our home. And I've just figured out this morning why I despise it.
It tastes too much like cranberry juice, that's why.
You know, I've become accustomed to having all the nastiness removed from my cranberry juice. And this product has not removed all that nastiness. Nor has it provided me with enough sugar. Or it hasn't mixed it well with a second, sweeter juice.
Oh, there are other things I don't particularly like about the juice cocktail, but this is the main thing.
After all, I do like Knudsen's Just Cranberry juice. And this stuff isn't sweet at all. But I guess that's what I'm expecting out of “Just Cranberry” juice. Something extremely tart. Something so very unmanageable that it's damned good to drink (in small doses... try it with club soda... yum).
Okay. Not really a complaint, I guess. But I'm trying to decide what to do with the rest of the juice in my fridge (I'm one of those people who has trouble buying new juice until the old juice is gone...).
No, the dogs won't drink it either.
