Laila Lalami Fulbright and The Road To Morocco // Beyond Hope

Laila Lalami announces this morning that she's won herself a fullbright.

MoorishGirl: Fulbright: The Road To Morocco: I received word yesterday that I've been awarded a Fulbright Fellowship for 2006-2007. I will be living in Casablanca for nine months, during which time I will be conducting research on Islamic extremism and secular movements for my next book, and also volunteering for a non-profit organization that provides services to disadvantaged neighborhoods.

I pretty much read MoorishGirl every darn day, but generally assume most of the items there will be widely distributed by the time I get them, so I don't distribute them again here. But this is worth a hearty congratulations to Laila. I haven't read Hope and Other Dangerous Pursuits yet, but I intend to. You should likely intend to too. And if you've already read it, tell me how much you loved it right here. I'm listening to “Two headed boy” by Neutral Milk Hotel from the album In the Aeroplane Over the Sea on .
