You've no doubt seen the headlines on Google News or Yahoo! News or anywhere else you get your news... Tom Cruise said he was going to eat the placenta of his baby when it's born. If he weren't joking, I might say “good for him.” Though not culturally “acceptable,” there are a number of people who do just that.
The Amazing Placenta: Then comes the practice of placentophagia, eating the placenta, is also practiced in some parts of the world. There are even meal like recipes for cooking placentas, including placenta stew, placenta lasagna, power drinks with blended placenta and others. Though some mothers have been reported to eat placenta raw.
But he was joking. Of course. Again.
Cruise was only kidding: Cruise, 43, told GQ: “I'm gonna eat the placenta. I thought that would be good. Very nutritious. I'm gonna eat the cord and the placenta right there.” When it was pointed out that it would be a big meal, Cruise replied: “OK, maybe I won't.”
On another note, blogs by dogs across the nation have reacted to the news with remarks such as the following:
“He isn't going to eat it? What a waste.” “If he doesn't eat it, who will?” “This is news? Wake me when you put your shoes on. I'll get the leash.”
