News Is a Coversation News

The New New Journalism : Conversations with America's Best Nonfiction Writers on Their Craft (Vintage Original)
Robert Boynton

Here's some news. I've joined the "News Is a Conversation" ombudsblog over at the Spokesman-Review. I believe I'm on record as responding snarkily regarding this network of individuals blogging (or not blogging, as the case may be... posts have been pretty irregular lately, it seems) about the local newspaper. I'm hoping to write regular posts regarding the daily news, and actually have something to say, and to create a little more lively conversation. I've already mentioned over there that I don't think news actually is a conversation, though that may indeed be one of the activities of the contemporary newspaper... to create conversation. What is the news to you? What purpose does a local (as opposed to national) newspaper serve? Is the print newspaper a dying thingamabob? I sincerely hope not... and I don't really think it is. But I also don't think that the contemporary newspapar has particularly got it's legs under it yet. We'll see. In the mean time, if you'd like to subscribe to the feed of my posts there, you may do so here or there. In the future I will likely publish my feed to this page, so be looking for that, won't you? Blessings.
