Blessings: The Complete Peanuts

The Complete Peanuts 1950-1954 Boxed Set
by Charles M. Schulz

I received a boxed set from The Complete Peanuts collection [Fantagraphics] for Christmas this year. I've always been a fan of Peanuts, especially the the older strips from “before my time.” I used to read them in the paperback collections that I'd check out from the library [Guess Who, Charlie Brown, You're Not Alone, Charlie Brown, It's A Home Run, Charlie Brown!]. At one time I had ten or eleven of these collections myself, but they usually turned to pulp after six or seven readings. These new hardback books, however, are some of the most well-built books I've seen in years. And I'm reading all the classics, starting in 1950, to my kids, one at a time, ten or twenty or fifty pages a day. They are enthralled, and so am I. These books make me wish Charles Schultz was still alive so I could write and thank him personally. Instead I offer this blessing. To him and to you.
