Best in Show
Warner Home Video

As usual, the National Dog Show will be televised on NBC at Noon on Thanksgiving day.
Purina Events | Dogs | Dog Shows | The National Dog Show Presented by Purina: Featuring over 3,000 leading canines from a variety of breeds, the National Dog Show presented by Purina® has become a part of the Thanksgiving Day tradition. Tune in at noon (in all time zones) to see one extraordinary canine crowned “Best in Show.”
I still have mixed feelings about the show itself, but I do not have mixed feelings about the dogs. There will undoubtedly be a host of gorgeous dogs, and ridiculously insipid commentary. Purina provides us with a yummy online viewer's guide here: guide... with plenty of meat byproduct. Oh, and hey, guess what... almost more entertaining than the viewer guide is Purina's “linking policy” at the bottom of their page, which I'll reproduce a portion of here, along with the linkage, so you can check and see if I've broken it. Frankly, the entire document is absurd, and reads to me as if they are trying to control how folks on the internets link their websites. Good luck, Purina. Next you're going to tell me I can't use and RCA television to watch your commercials, or drive a Ford to purchase your puppy chow, or watch a recorded broadcast of your sponsored National Dog Show on a digital device such as a Tivo or iPod. Ultimately, this shows just how incredibly backwards and slow to understand and/or digest the current “media” our old school corporations and lawyers can be. Um, but I said I was going to post the policy, didn't I... see for yourself how ridiculous it is... and enjoy the dogs, won't you?

Oops. Looks like I brooke their rule. I linked to their viewers guide and their home page with the wrong text. After this mumbo jumbo there's a bunch more mumbo jumbo trying to protect themselves from lawsuits should you catch a virus from their website. Followed by this:
Purina may at any time revise this Linking Policy. You are bound by any such revisions and should therefore periodically visit this page to review the then-current Linking Policy to which you are bound. The display of our domain name and the graphic banner(s) containing our trademark(s) on the web site indicates the agreement by the web site owner to the foregoing terms and conditions.
What? You want me to periodically visit this page to review the “then-current Linking Policy to which [I am] bound”? Um, yeah, of course. No problem. I'll make sure I visit every site I link while I'm at it and explore their linking policies. Or maybe I'll just stop linking sites because it's too much bother. Because that whole idea of “hyperlinks” is so freaking passe. They only call it Hypertext Markup Language because they had to give it some kind of name. Honestly. They act as if they're offended that anybody would link them at all. “What do you think you are doing, linking us? Do you know that you used the link word ”guide“ instead of ”http://www.purina.com“? I suppose they are trying to protect themselves from google bombs and other maliciousness, but I wonder what recourse they believe they will have... anybody with special knowledge ever hear of a corporation being able to force a siteholder to use designated text in their linkages? If so, comment me. Until then, enjoy the show. With blessings. (And please note, when checking my linking policy, it's right here: Link with impunity... at will... however you like.)
