Jennifer Weiner ∴ Pre-NYT-Interview

Why is it that when I'm finished reading a post lilke this one I mostly want to write to Jennifer Weiner and tell her how much I loved "Poltergeist" and how I must have watched it ten or twenty times when it first broadcast on Showtime and I used to quote it obsessively.
Mommy? Where are you Mommy? I can't hear you. I can't hear you, Mommy?
Oh dear. Just typing those words gives me the shivers. Why did I love that movie so much? Probably had something to do with the idea that the youngest gets taken by a poltergeist and appears to be trapped in the television. Something about the television. I wouldn't attribute it to my nascent appreciation for the symbolism, because there's nothing scary about nascent nor symbolism. Maybe I sometimes just liked having the bejesus scared out of me.
