Jennifer Weiner Books

ImageIs it me, or does each new Jennifer Weiner book look almost exactly the same as the last one? If I was her, I'd be utterly furious (though she doesn't seem utterly furious) that a person walking in to a bookstore wouldn't actually know I had a new book (Goodnight Nobody at amazon.com / (in a new window) unless specifically told that I had a new book. (Hey, folks, Jennifer Weiner has a new book.) Because there I'd be, looking at the pile of books on the book table near the front of my big box bookstore, and there would be Goodnight Nobody, and I'd say, "Oh, I have that one already," and I'd wander off and accidentally buy a copy of Maxim instead. I frankly think it's a mistake to make them look so similar. Anyway, a whole lot of people are more likely to buy the version of In Her Shoes [at amazon.com / (in a new window)] with Cameron Diaz on the cover than all three of the others, which is the tough love of the book business. I wonder if I can get Cameron Diaz to pose as a cat for my new book, We Are the Cat? Probably not. On a "hey, that's cool" note, please notice that you can read the first chapter of Goodnight Nobody here (warning / this opens a pdf file).
