Amanda Stern - Happy Ending Series:
I ask each of my authors to take one public risk. That is, they are required to do something onstage they've never done before (onstage). It's a fun bit and people get really into it. Some people who submit to me think (wrongly) that I'll book them based on their risk, but the risk is the cover, not the album. For a list of risks people have taken, go here
