Word of the Day / A.Word.A.Day --hodiernal
I tend not to post Words of the Day, but today's word seemed especially appropriate to post on the day it arrived, so I'm posting it, see? Here it is:
A.Word.A.Day --"Of or pertaining to the present day"? Get it? I know you get it. Don't pretend that you don't.
hodiernal hodiernal (ho-di-ER-nuhl) adjective
Of or pertaining to the present day.
[From Latin hodiernus, from hodie (today).]
"Our vernal
Brightness keeping,
Time outleaping;
Passed the hodiernal!"
Thomas Hardy; To Outer Nature; 19th c.
(Please note that the flickr photo of the lift door was tagged "today," thus it's use to illustrate this little ditty.) Technorati Tags: hodiernal, present, today, lift, vernal, brightness, ThomasHardy, ToOuterNature, AWAD
