I tend not to post Words of the Day, but today's word seemed especially appropriate to post on the day it arrived, so I'm posting it, see? Here it is:
A.Word.A.Day --
hodiernal
hodiernal (ho-di-ER-nuhl) adjective

Of or pertaining to the present day.

[From Latin hodiernus, from hodie (today).]

"Our vernal
Brightness keeping,
Time outleaping;
Passed the hodiernal!"
Thomas Hardy; To Outer Nature; 19th c.
"Of or pertaining to the present day"? Get it? I know you get it. Don't pretend that you don't.

(Please note that the flickr photo of the lift door was tagged "today," thus it's use to illustrate this little ditty.) Technorati Tags: , , , , , , , ,
