Talking Vacuum Cleaners

Why do I love vacuum cleaners? Perhaps because my dog hates them. She believes they are evil, as you may know, second only to the weedwhacker and the lawnmower. Thanks to Engadget, I get this news from LG... a vacuum cleaner that "talks" to you "when the power mode is being manually altered, when the machine is turned on and when the bin is ready to be changed." (Source: Tech Digest: LG's talking vacuum cleaners.) If you happen to be a Yank (like me), you might be scratching your head for half a second at the word "bin," but you'll likely get it. I'm not sure a talking vacuum cleaner is necessary, but I'm not sure that matters. If they can make it happen, they will... eventually. What I really want in a vacuum is a decent Dyson knockoff so I don't have to spend five hundred bucks to get a cleaner that finally works. LG claims:
The power is on and on and on and on In order to create a range of vacuum cleaners at the top of their class, LG has created the Dynaclean? system so that the cleaners never lose suction and users can experience maximum power for the lifetime of the product. Utilising a clog free multi-cyclonic system developed following extensive laboratory testing, users will be able to feel the superior power and dust pick up of the cleaner.
This sounds a lot like the Dyson. At 200, it doesn't look as if they'll be much cheaper. Alas.
