Ruminations on Favorite Toys / The Bark - Issue #27

A few days ago I mentioned that The BARk magazine has a blog. Now it turns out that I have a pageful excerpt of my book, You Are a Dog, in the current issue / #27. From The BARk website:

We called on Mo Rocca, David Sedaris, Merrill Markoe, Terry Bain and John Dufresne to share their dog-focused humor.

Does this post make it sound as if I didn't know I had an excerpt of my book in the current issue of The BARk? That's because I didn't know I had an excerpt in the current issue The BARk. When they say they "called on" me, that means they called the permissions department of my publisher and asked if they could print a portion of my book in their magazine. Me? I'm just the author. You can call me Content Boy. Odd, yes? I'm guessing that the permissions department at BartelsmannRandomHouseCrownHarmony didn't notify anybody but the permissions department that they'd been asked for permission to publish an excerpt of my book in a magazine. (I'm looking in to it right now, you can bet your bonnett... though mostly for the sake of my having that information... I like to know what goes on behind the curtain... I'm guessing the great and powerful Oz will turn out to be a travelling sideshow man.) Frankly, I'm thrilled anyway. The BARk is one of the best darn tootin' dog magazines going. You might consider a subscription, you know? Blessings on you all and your canines.
