Paris and Paris Sittin' in a Tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G / First Comes Love, Then Comes Marriage, Then Comes...

I don't intend for this page to become a Paris Hilton clearinghouse, but for some reason the last few weeks I've been drawn to news about her, beginning with the Carl's Jr. ad of her heavy petting experience with an automobile and oral sex with a sandwich. But now she's getting married? To a guy named Paris? Please. Is there nothing about this woman I can take seriously. Perhaps I am drawn to the absolute outrageousness of her shallow fame. People Magazine announced her engagement.
Paris Hilton Engaged to Greek Shipping Heir | People, Individual, Paris Hilton, Pop Culture, Event, Engagements : People.com: "'I'm very in love... he's the one,' Hilton told PEOPLE earlier this month. 'I want to have kids in the next two years, because I know that completes your life.'"
Stop. Please stop it. This is absolutely the most absurd thing I have heard anyone say in a really long time. Having children completes your life? What in the hell does that mean? Here's something, Paris y Paris, for the two of you to chew: having children does not complete your life. For sure it changes it, and it can certainly enrich your life (if you work at it and don't let the nannies do all the loving), but unless you mean to die during childbirth, there is nothing complete about having children. If anything, it un-completes a life. It leaves things open-ended. It frays the ends of the rope. It creates havoc and joy. It creates unimaginable love and pain. It's huge, yes, but it ain't complete. If she does have kids, I hope she lets herself be a mom (I doubt it). She would likely be a smarter, sexier, wiser human if she let herself be a mom. Maybe I like reading and talking about Paris Hilton because she represents the far end of the spectrum for me when it comes to knee-jerk, empty-headed responses to the universe. Why does she let herself be such a symbol? I don't know. But she keeps feeding the machine. And so long as she keeps feeding the machine, I'll likely have something to say about it. Please note that yes, I did make reference to moms being sexy. Dig it. It's true. Technorati Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,
