Well, I guess Faulkner can look forward to some book sales there, can't he (darnit, I almost wish I was related to 'im)? And the millions of folks clicking "Add to Cart" right now on Oprah's say-so? They can look forward to some serious head scratchin' (assuming they actually crack one of the volumes open and take a peak inside).
Frankly, I'm glad Oprah picked Faulkner. Light in August was one of the first challenging books I ever read, and I think it changed what I thought fiction was... or could be. It blew my head right up. I remember our school library only had three Faulkner books, and it was exactly these three. I read them all, and I think my head and heart are still stung a bit from the experience.
