Mother of Mauling Victim Feared Family Dog / I Declare That Woman Is Negligent

No. No no no no no no no. First, if you are afraid your dog might hurt your kids, then you don't have a trained dog. Train your dog. And take your kids with you when run your errands. Second, oh, there is no second. I have to get to what the woman said about her son and I have to get to it fast because it's driving me crazy:

Excuse me? It was your son's time to go? Does that make anybody feel better? It doesn't make me feel any better. This attitude is so wrongheaded that it makes me want to break something expensive. And I never want to break something expensive. Never. So if my son will go when it's his time, I'll just leave him alone with my attack dog. I'll give him a shovel for protection. Oh, he escaped from the basement, that silly kid. Must have been his time to go. Again. No. No no no no no no no. It was not this kid's time to go. And if this is what she's telling the press, then I hope to hell the authoraties do a bit closer investigation into what happens in this house and whether the child was actually killed by a pitbull. Whether the pitbull did the deed or not, people who do not train their dogs... especially those who are traditionally trained for violence... are at the very least negligent. I don't mean to say that she deserved to have her son killed, but I do mean to say that she shares the responsibility for it happening, and shooting the dog does next to nothing to solve the problem. Would jail time for the mother help? Maybe not. But something besides shooting the dog and calling it finished. More than just a investigation. More than criminalizing pit bulls. More than what will probably be done here. I'm going to give this matter some thought. And so are you. Leave me ideas in the comments, if you'd like. I'd like to hear what you have to say.
