Axis of Junk
My wife has made the observation (and rightly so) that my website/weblog has become a bit of an axis of junk lately.
Paris Hilton? News stories about orgasm? Really, what on earth do those things have to do with you, with your writing, with anything at all worth talking about?
I should point out that those weren't her words there in italics. Those were the words in my head when she made her observation. The words in my head tend to be louder, so I pay closer attention to them.
Unfortunately this sometimes leads me to think my opinion on Paris Hilton is something you will be interested in. This is especially true when I post an item about Paris Hilton and sextuple (is that a word) my "readership" in a single day. Never mind that all those readers disappeared a few days later (most of them were Technorati hits)... I suddenly had a vision of hundreds of thousands of people looking for video of Paris Hilton, stumbling on my blog, and instead of going directly to Carl's Jr. or Spicy Paris, buying my book on Amazon.com.
Everyone knows about the direct connection between soft porn and funny dog books, right?
Imagine my surprise when my book didn't jump directly to the bestseller lists. Imagine my further surprise when I found myself obsessed with what the rest of the blogging world was looking at/looking for/looking through.
Expect things to change around here. Expect me to be perfecting the art of actually having something to say and then saying it rather than just linking whatever popular meme happens to be meming at the mement.
You know what? I think I just coined the words "meming" and "mement." (If I didn't, I don't want to hear about it... it will only make me crazy.)
That's all for now. I'd like to finish this with thanking my wife for her observations (though I don't think I responded so positively at the time). And by sending blessings to you and yours.
