Spokesman-Review Daily Briefing: What's being written elsewhere about West case
Is our little Spokane Mayor problem national news? More and more it is: Daily Briefing: What's being written elsewhere about West case (or check google news). At least the the New York Times isn't reporting that we're were "rocked," as the headline read in the Seattle times. No, apparently we are "Jolt"ed. I've never been jolted before. Sounds like fun. Where do I sign up? Is there a list? Anyway, the Times is linking the Spokesman-Review, of course. Apparently I jumped the gun earlier though regarding being rocked. Lisa Brown is quoted in the NY Times:
"It's an earthquake," said State Senator Lisa Brown, a Spokane Democrat who is the majority leader. "And for Jim West, it's tragic. There are openly gay legislators and openly gay Republicans. But he's obviously uncomfortable with his identity."And I keep thinking... come on. An earthquake? Should I call FEMA? Are buildings falling? Will people be crushed? No. It's mostly very juicy news. We don't even know if the mayor is under criminal investigation. He's been accused of some pretty severe, pretty nasty stuff, and I don't doubt someone will look into it. But he's also admitted to some impropriety, including using his office to surf for sex. Regular public employees get fired for that kind of stuff every day. At the very least, this is what should happen to Mr. West. Somebody call Donald Trump. Did he ever get the trademark on the words "You're Fired?" If so, I guess we'll have to pay him royalties to use it. But if we do, it'll be worth it.
