Soderbergh's Revolution

I'm an enormous Steven Soderbergh fanatic (I want to make sure you know I'm more than just the abreviated "fan"--I'm a true blue "fanatic"), and I therefore don't take Soderbergh news lightly. At first blush, I'm particularly interested in this latest tidbit: Guardian Unlimited Film | News | Soderbergh's revolution. Releasing his films on several formats at once will mean what? It will mean (or should mean) it will be easier to get my hands on quality, low-budget Soderbergh movies (they don't often last long here in Spokane, unless they have "Ocean" in the title):

Of course, there are no Landmark Theaters in Spokane either. And I don't get HDNet. But. Well. Maybe I'll have to get the DVD. Sigh. I can do that already. And I don't really care about seeing a movie the day it comes out. But in the nearish future it might mean something more. Likely some corporate bobble-head will make sure it means more money out of my pocket if I want to watch Soderbergh movies. I'd like to be more optimistic than that, but I've had all my film optimism worn away by time and experience. Alas. Technorati Tags: , , , , , ,
