Gay sex scandal rocks Spokane (er, Seattle)
The Spokesman-Review is likely fuming (or maybe not, because maybe they don't really care), because this story at the Seattle PI is killing (so we can take blog links as any indication) The Spokesman's own and original story regarding the Jim West scandal. Actually, it kind of annoys me as well, especially given that the entire PI story is either cribbed from the Spokesman or made up of immaterial quotes from non-critical people such as this:
"He was probably one of the most influential Eastern Washington politicians," LeLoup said. "I believe his political career is over. Plenty of politicians overcome scandals, but I don't see how it's possible in this case."Other news sources are clearly playing catch up on the story, and they don't really have anything to add. But they have to add something. So they contact everyone from political scientists to boys who have met West but say he only shook their hand. Also, as far as "rocking" Spokane, I'd say the Seattle paper is using a little creative headlining. It's upsetting, but not particularly rocking. Onward.
