Creating Passionate Users: How to create a non-fiction bestseller

Though this post by Kathy Sierra on How to create a non-fiction bestseller is supposedly about technical books, but it speaks to almost any non-fiction book, I'd wager, especially given its final assumption (that I would call more of a conviction, or a promise, or a guide, or something besides an assumption, but I'm using Kathy's lingo):
The author genuinely, deeply, truly cares about enhancing the lives of the reader.
