Alabama Bill Targets Gay Authors

When Alabama State Representative Gerald Allen says banning books by gay authors or with gay characters in them isn't censorship, I'd have to say I agree. It isn't censorship. It's thought control. Luckily the Alabama legislature took a stand:
When the time for the vote in the legislature came there were not enough state legislators present for the vote, so the measure died automatically.
I don't know which annoys me more, that Mr. Allen would propose such a bill, or that there wasn't a line-up of representatives ready to shout him down when the time came to do so. Klink: CBS News | Alabama Bill Targets Gay Authors | April 28, 2005. Technorati Tags: , , , , , , , ,
