Alabama Bill Targets Gay Authors
When Alabama State Representative Gerald Allen says banning books by gay authors or with gay characters in them isn't censorship, I'd have to say I agree. It isn't censorship. It's thought control. Luckily the Alabama legislature took a stand:
When the time for the vote in the legislature came there were not enough state legislators present for the vote, so the measure died automatically.I don't know which annoys me more, that Mr. Allen would propose such a bill, or that there wasn't a line-up of representatives ready to shout him down when the time came to do so.
