Is Amazon Out?
Though Amazon.com says they usually ship my book in 24 hours, go ahead and try ordering one and see if it actually ships in 24 hours. I bet you it won't, because I think they're out. At least in their Nevada ship center they seem to be, because I know of at least 5 books that are not being shipped on time, and I doubt very much it's because of the weather in Nevada. Why do I think this? Because our local bookstore ran out of copies over the holiday, and couldn't get any from any of the west coast warehouses. This is further compounded by the fact that Random House is utterly closed until January 3, so any warehouses ordering before then will simply have to wait. I'm torn whether this is good news or bad. I'm tempted to think it's good news, but that may be because I'm an optimist. I suppose most bookstores who have it still have a copy or two. Auntie's Bookstore managed to get 72 copies in before Christmas by ordering second day shipping from Ingram. And that will have to do until after the new year because nothing else is moving until then. And yes, it's possible that they sell out of them before then, because folks are snapping them up like they were Doritos. Good heavens. I've just compared my book to Doritos. I must stop now before I make it worse. More news soon, I think.
