Okay, I'll admit you have to be a bit nutsy about dogs to enjoy this book. But I am and I did. What it tries to do -- and maybe what it does do -- is get inside a dog's head. It is often humorous -- "The advantage of drinking from the toilet is that the water is always fresh." -- and sometimes serious -- "You respond to their touch with love. You respond to their ire with love." -- ALEX COFFIN, FOR THE OBSERVER
